Philippines is quite busy preparing for the 2010 Presidential Election. Each presidential candidates are making their individual moves to let people know who they are and what they have done for the country. Some are making issues and allegations on their opponent to divert people’s mind and choose not to vote for him/her. Some are making their own initiatives to be famous and be remembered. Some are using famous celebrities to introduce them in the public. Some are taking advantages of their family’s prime to acquire people’s sympathy. And some are humble enough to just state their real intentions and the things they wanted to do for the nation. In other words, each of them has its own gimmick in conveying people that they deserve to be the next Philippine President. But who would really be the right, appropriate and deserving one to be sitting on that Presidential throne for the next 6 years?

I assumed, people are looking for the perfect one. But what would be our basis for that perfect one? I guess we won’t just vote for that person because we think he can help us. We won’t be giving our vote to that person because he has promised us for a better country. And definitely we won’t be voting him/her because he/she is famous or his/her family made a history in our country. We have our own sets of qualifications on who to give our votes on the 2010 Presidential Elections. Hopefully we would be thinking on it a hundred times if the person we are planning to vote is really the right person to take over for the next 6 years. The decision is ours to make. The future of our next President is our future as well.

If I am to choose among the presidential candidates, I would definitely vote for Gilbert Teodoro. Sen. Manny Villar has the capacity and capabilities for the position because of his long term services in the Philippine government and he had made a lot of things for his countrymen. Sen. Noynoy Aquino could also be a good leader because of his fear to God and respect to his parents who have been our hero and heroine for our democracy. But why would I choose Gilbert Teodoro? Simply because I know his capacity to deal with a nation like ours. Our nation is not a simple nation to lead upon. The poverty that we encountered, the calamities that made detriment to our progress, the lack of employment, the rapid growth of our population, the unending encounters among militant groups, the rampant killings and crimes and most of all, the kind of people that we have. Who could lead a nation like such? We have known Gilbert as the former Secretary of National Defense. Being chosen as one is not an easy task. But Gilbert was able to stood up with that task with courage and determination. What would we ask for then? Gilbert Teodoro is smart and genial. Determined and strong-willed. Sincere and candid man. Has great interest for public services. Has strong sense of justice. And most of all, he is more prepared for leadership.

Definitely, Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. is the right and appropriate for the next Philippine President!
