Just this morning at 3:18 (1918 GMT Friday) our beloved former President Cory Aquino passed away of cardio-respiratory arrest. 5 in the morning when his son Senator Noynoy Aquino announces to the public that his mother passed away.

Former President Cory Aquino was diagnosed with colon cancer last March 2008 and had undergone chemotherapy and surgery. She was confined in the Makati Medical Center last June and stayed there for more than a month already due to loss of appetite. It has been 16 months of struggle against colon cancer.

Former President Cory Aquino, 76 years old, was known by many people because of her courage in fighting for freedom. She was the heroine of the 1986 people power revolution. She has been the icon for democracy not just in Philippines but in the whole world. She was the first female President of the Republic of the Philippines and in the whole Asia.

The remains of the late former President Cory Aquino is currently at La Salle Greenhills.
