Aquino-Binay Proclamation

aquino-binay-proclamationIt has been a month already since the first automated 2010 Presidential election. After the success of the first automated election in our country, there were a lot of fraud issues regarding the automated election. The congress has been making investigation regarding this matter by calling COMELEC officials and Smartmatic heads into session to answer the issues regarding the automated election. There  were doubts and speculations on the PCOS machines. But Smartmatic officials have tried clearing all those speculations through showing to the public how their system works.  Although all speculations and doubts were not yet taken off, still the canvassing committee was able to continue the canvassing and finally got the official result for President and Vice-President.

Along the canvassing, the race for President was clear enough that Noynoy was definitely leading the race. As with the Vice-Presidential race, Roxas and Binay were close enough. Last Wednesday, June 9, 2010, the joint session of Congress has convoked to proclaim Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Jejomar “Jojo” Binay as president-elect and vice-president elect respectively. Officially, Noynoy garnered an overall 15, 208, 678 votes enjoying a wide lead of 5.2 million votes over Erap Estrada. While Binay garnered an overall 14, 645, 574 votes with just 720,000 votes lead over Roxas.

The proclamation for president-elect and vice-president-elect has been through,  yet there is still time for election protests for those who wanted to do so.

Here are the final Congressional tally for both President and Vice-President races.

With this new leaders, can we expect a better Philippines in the incoming years? We hope to see Philippines to be more progressive, more fruitful, less crimes and unwanted killings, less people to initiate various strikes, less unfortunates and more job opportunities in the incoming years. If all of the above mentioned are to be achieved little by little, then we can say that Noynoy is definitely the man we’ve been long searching for to rule the nation. We hope against hopes that there would be a solution to corruption now that Noynoy is the newly elected President. Let’s just see how he could manage the country and what he can do to resolve all those problems.
